StreetWars players stalk with squirt guns

LOS ANGELES, March 13 (UPI) -- A large-scale combination of "Hide and Seek" and murder is being played on the streets of major U.S. cities with water pistols.

"StreetWars: Killer" allows grownups to play out fantasies of being assassins, the Los Angeles Times says. The game began in New York, where Mayor Michael Bloomberg said that one of the founders, Franz Aliquo, "could use some psychiatric help."

Unlike paintball and other war games, "StreetWars" is played on real streets. Combatants are encouraged to use ingenuity -- including designing squirt guns that can be hidden. But they are supposed to stay within the law and opponents' workplaces and bars are truce areas.

For an upcoming game in Los Angeles, participants pay $35 and provide basic information, including their address and a photo. They get a card with their target. The game goes on until only one person survives.

Critics like Nancy Ruhe of the Parents of Murdered Children says "StreetWars" makes a game of tragedy. Others suggest that participants are unwise to reveal details of their life to strangers who could turn out to be real-life bad guys.</blockquote>

Sounds fun to meh...
