I have been able to host with my Linksys router. You need to go into setup on router, click "advance tab" on top right, click on forwarding, enter 12200 in left port and 12203 in right port. Select "both" and what IP the host computer is set up with. Another option under router setup is to click advanced, DMZ, and fill in IP. Only difference is all ports are exposed to internet. Hope this helps.

assuming you have your internal network configured correctly...
enter your router's configuration program thru IE and enter the ADVANCED section. Click on filters and make sure that Multicast Pass Through, IPSec Pass Through, and PPTP Pass Through are all ENABLED. The others can be DISABLED. Click on apply.
Next, click the FORWARDING tab and enter on the first line the port range from 12201 to 12203, select UDP for protocol, and set the ip address to the internal ip address of the pc you want to host the game on. On the second line, enter the port range 12210 to 12210, again select UDP, and enter the same ip address. Click on apply at the bottom and thats it. When you enter the MOHAA mp demo game setup screen make sure you check off "Use Gamespy". ENJOY!

those were the port numbers that MOHAA uses according to what I read. I don't know if it's necessary to include the 12210 line, but it works with it, so i have no reason to remove it!

Oh, BTW, router wouldn't fit through email!

{Holy}Moses. thanks for your help,But im still confused about a few things. Do i have specify an ip address in network propeties, then specify that address in the router SETUp page? because when run winipcfg. the ip address is generic 192.168.1.100 .On top of that i have a cablemodem that i think is DHCP. Will that cause me a problem? ahhhhh!!!

{Holy}Moses, Yes, I specified the internal host PC'c IP in the forwarding section too.

Tecarte, DHCP will not cause problems as long as you set host PC with a static IP.

maybe i misunderstood the "where can i download the router" question. The linksys router is a piece of physical hardware... usually around $80 U.S. dollars.
Hey Quick... you mentioned you specified the internal ip on the DMZ host. Did you also specify it on the FORWARDING section, or leave it blank? I ask only because my DMZ section is not specified; I am able to host a game on the server PC, and join the game thru the lan. However, when two or more of my PC's try to get on the same game through gamespy, my client PCs time out. The only way I could fix it was to either disable the FORWARDING ports alltogether, or specify one or more clients...

No one asked about his "server.cfg"

Mine wouldn't work till I put this back to it's default setting.

net_ip "localhost"

And my Linksys has the host in them DMZ and no where else.
