i just started playing MP lastnight and I noticed that i get a "server connection timed out" type of message when I try to join a game. I get this alot, not every time, but more often than not. What causes this?

First of all, what is your internet connection? Dial up connections tend to do this a lot.

Secondly, are your running version 1.10?
If not, i suggest you get it

uugghh.... i have a 56k modem. I plan on getting a cable modem connection later on this month(payday ) but a good friend of mine who plays alot of UT told me that with a 56K modem I should be able to play fine. He told me that it really depends on the speed of the server you are connected to, or at least trying to connect to. This is all what he's telling me, but I honestly don't know for sure myself. Tonite will only be my 2nd night of MP....

another question just popped in my head...what exactly is a dedicated server and what makes it better? is it a PC hosting games non stop with say a cable connection or T1? will it make MP more fun for me if I play on a dedicated server? how would I find one?

as far as what version...I'm not sure. I haven't downloaded any patches for MP and I'm playing the game straight out of the box, so I'm guessing 1.0. I've heard of a 1.1 patch, but I thought that was only needed on the server side. any clarification on this would be greatly appreciated...

thanks in advance....
