How the hell are they going to pull off the Omaha level. I mean most games start getting choppy after like 30 people are on the screen. I know the movie shows a bunch of people on the level, but to accurately portray the landing won't they have to have a whole lot more men. (how many men landed?) Plus even more slowdown if the bodies stay there. someone please tell me what they think will happen. |

I'm not sure. I'll just make sure that my new video card is as fast as I can afford. Plus I'll get some more memory. Either way, I can't wait to check the game out. |

i think you're asking a similiar question that was answered already so i'm just going to post it here , if it helps ....

GnrlWarT: Using Saving Private Ryan as a reference, there were basically never more than five moving people visible at any one time in that movie. We used this as the inspiration that we could actually do DDay without requiring way more guys on screen than the engine could handle. The majority of guys on the beach are generally dead guys. We don't have quite the same body count as SPR, but we put as many in there as we could afford. Regardless, the constant movement, bullets, mortars, smoke, ambient sound, and the yelling more than compensate for that, and we still get a very nice and chaotic feel to DDay.

this is from the developer Q&A

I don't get it, anyone want to explain this to me. I mean everyones gonna be dead. Or everyones not gonna move, just be statue? Or only 5 guys are gonna move the rest are dead or statues? Or only 5 people move at one time then freeze, then 5 more people move? I mean WTF? |

Probably means there wont be a big horde of men charging up the beach but more like grouped in numbers of from say 4 up to maybe 6 or so, and scattered about the beach.

Yeah, easytrick, why are you having a spazz about this ? Wait until the video comes out tomorrow or whenever and you'll hopefully see what the beach action is like. Read what GnrlWarT said, that is it, with all the ambience, smoke, explosions, screaming and the chance of getting shot I dont think you'll be worrying about the amount of people on the beach. Yes, there wont be as many guys as in SPR, but it will still be something to behold. I've always wanted to know what it would feel like trying to make your way up that beach, this will finally give me just a little bit of an experience in what it must have been like. This will be awesome.

Wow me and Kaiser think a lot a like after reading some of his posts. (except that whole Russia vs. US thing). Ya your right Wookie, I'm just excited as hell for that level. I no it's bad to judge a game for one level, but Jesus I (like most everyone here) want to experience somewhat about what storming the beach was like. I really hope they can pull it off. I can't wait for that movie either, I have been checking for it about once an hour for it. Will someone have a link so we can download it again? |

There's a lot of technical trickery going on in that level, but there are quite a few guys on the beach with you, definatley more than just 6 or so .

Comparing this to SPR, I don't think that's right...Remember SPR had lots of shots from the MG nests and similar, while this is all 1st Person, so you wouldn't be able to see all "500" troops around you, also remember that you're among the first to land, so there won't be too many guys around you, and finally like the original MOH there is "cut-off" sort of like smoke (though nowhere near as close) so that would prevent you from seeing the entire length of the beach.... |

That's a lot of guys. What about some broads? Up in this "Joint"? God, I hate when people say that... it makes me want to hurt them in a very serious way... what was I talking about?
