GLH = a fucking awesome car.

GLH stands for goes like hell". It was dodges response to the european 4 bangers coming in to the country, such as the rabbit GTI. (It has always been known as a golf in Europe)

Their were 4 types of GLH during its production years of 84 to 87.

GLH = 110hp
Omni GLH 2.2l Turbo charged 142hp
&
GLHS = 2.2l Turbo charged with intercooler. 175hp (Official Car and Driver ET times = 14.9), while Dodge boasted a 14.6-14.7 ET.

I am a huge fan of these cars, sadly they are extremely"""" hard to find anywhere nowadays..finding a GLHS for sale is even harder. Only 3285 GLH's were made in 84 alone.... so your chances of finding an actaul "GLHS" from 85 = slim to none.

The nearest comparable Big 3 comparision car of the time was the Mustang SVO in 84, with a 2.3l 175hp turbo charged + intercooler. it ran its ET in 15.9... I kind of see Arkans comments as part of his hate for 4 bangers in general. biggrin:

Not to take away from the Omni, i just don't think Shelby's name should be attached to that car. Call it whatever you want but not a Shelby. When one hears the name Shelby, Cobras and Mustangs come to mind, not an Omni.

...and as for "4 bangers", i don't mind them. I respect anything that is fast. What i don't like is the thought of attaching a wing and a coffee can for a muffler and thinking your ride is pimp.

Wanna laugh? Two idiots were racing their riced out coffee cans on the hwy only to be passed by yours truly driving a soccor mom van !! I nearly pissed myself as i sped past both of them!

Exact same car as mine, considering this guy has only trimmed 100 pounds off the car, and done a few engine upgrades and is turning in 12.9 ET's = fucking awesome. a 12second car for 13k(price includes parts) american = 1337. They guy is still using the stock pulleys, exaust, and headers, he could pull out some more easy power from that thing.

Mods:

Engine:

HO Intake Manifold
Upper and Lower Motor mounts
T3 Internal Gate Turbo - .48 Turbine - .60 Compressor with a 50 Trim Wheel
Spearco Intercooler 31" x 6" x 3"
Exploited Racing SS Turbo manifold
2.5" Intercooler piping
1G DSM BOV
Ford Green Top 440 cc Injectors
GM S/C 2 Bar Map Sensor
GM S/C Reflash
Greddy Emanage
B & M Short Shifter

ps. the stang looks great, have fun.
