Try bunging on 5.8 or something, dod seems to have a few quirks associated with it, one fo them being the game crashing for no reason.

You got the latest motherboard drivers etc? usually the ones that come with the board will be months out of date, might want to also try updating those, and sound card drivers etc so everythings as upto date as it can be.

You any other games instaled that aren't crashing? Just seems to be a problem with steam and hl2 cuss:

Doom 3, CoD 2 demo they run beautifully, i mean everything cranked up in 1280x960 or whatever it is. No hiccups.
