Default car repair question - 01-26-2006, 01:12 PM

so my engine light came on the other day, took it in, they fixed it, but didnt bother to tell me why it broke in the first place, and why I needed it and what it does. so this is where i turn to GF1.

So I just got the invoice in the mail today about the repairs. Since I got an extended warrenty, All I would have to pay would be the $100 deductible. Now here is the funny part. THE LABOUR AND PARTS weren't even $100 worth. The cost came to $98. so that means I would still have to pay $100. so I spoke to the lady who did the paper work for me when I got my car. She did me a huge favour and some how got me outta paying for the repairs. I gave her a huge hand shake and thanked her.

Now here is what was wrong with my car. Can anyone tell me wtf this is. I dont know much about cars, BE GENTLE cry:

yeah your vent solinoid was stuck open. They put a new one in. Unless yo uwanted ot rebuild the solinoid just say thanks. The vent opens as the engine performs a check, and then closes. When it opened as you started the car it didnt close.

why?[/quote:6d466]well the way my steering wheel is positioned and how bunched up my keychain is with all my keys on it. sometimes when I started the ignition. I kinda shut the car off when the car was in the "starting to turn on" process. Ive done that a few times. that's only reason I can think of.

also, what would have happened if I just ignored it?

I dont think that is the cause. IVe done that tons of times to my truck and a few to other cars. It still should have closed when you turned off the ignition. I think it was probably rusted or some electronic part fried in it.
