Just in case any of you out there get this message, delete it. It was made by some retard with to much time on his hands. its been spreading around hotmail, msn etc. Its not an actual virus so like i said just ignore it. its not a virus or anything but its to try and scare ppl who dont know anything about computers. Heres the massage you might get:
I found the little bear in my machine because of that I am sending this message in order for you to find it in your machine. The procedure is very simple:
The objective of this e-mail is to warn all Hotmail users about a new virus that is spreading by MSN Messenger. The name of this virus is jdbgmgr.exe and it is sent automatically by the Messenger and by the address book too. The virus is not detected by McAfee or Norton and it stays quiet for 14 days before damaging the system.
The virus can be cleaned before it deletes the files from your system. In order to eliminate it, it is just necessary to do the following steps:
1. Go to Start, click "Search"
2.- In the "Files or Folders option" write the name jdbgmgr.exe
3.- Be sure that you are searching in the drive "C"
4.- Click "find now"
5.- If the virus is there (it has a little bear-like icon with the name of jdbgmgr.exe DO NOT OPEN IT FOR ANY REASON
6.- Right click and delete it (it will go to the Recycle bin)
7.- Go to the recycle bin and delete it or empty the recycle bin.
IF YOU FIND THE VIRUS IN ALL OF YOUR SYSTEMS SEND THIS MESSAGE TO ALL OF YOUR CONTACTS LOCATED IN YOUR ADDRESS BOOK BEFORE IT CAN CAUSE ANY DAMAGE.
Yeah, I immediately suspected that BS when I first saw it. There's a reason it's in every Windows installation. Mabye because it's an MS file. Anybody with half a brain should've been able to figure that out. Deleting that file causes more damage than leaving it. Obviously.
Yeah I got that a few weeks back. I was suspect about it. Looked it up and thers nothing wrong with it. One of my friends sent it to like 20 people so I sent a message saying it was a harmless file.
jdbgmgr.exe is a file that COMES with windows. It's not a crucial system file, but it contains information regarding your internet connection, and port addess. If you delete it, it won't run at startup, causing your system to withold information. This info can be accessed from anyone over the web using a virus, a port sniffer, anything. It really sucks, but like I said, it's old and Microsoft developed a backup if the file gets deleted, which is why it CAN be deleted in the first place. So whomever made that email originally is a moron. biggrin:
