I have been looking forward to this game. As much as anyone I guess.
But now I hear the missions are entirely scripted with no random positioning, etc. And all allied personnel are set to die at certain times?
This really does sound like it will become unplayable very quickly. At least in terms of re-playablity.
Of course, I am getting it for the multiplayer but I can not believe they could not have had some random enemy placements or random "dice roll" to see when an allied AI character gets hit or not.
I don't know that much about programming but I do know that Red Baron II had a mix of preset enemy placement and randomly placed enemy units. Also, since they were roaming aircraft, who you ran into was based on where you went when. I was hoping MOHAA would do likewise so if you were early or late the enemy would have been in a different place.
Still looks great and I can't wait. But does not sound like I will be playing it a year later like I was Red Baron II or Close Combat II.
even though some of your ai is scripted to always die at certain points in the game( like on Omaha beach) at other times (like sp demo) how well you protect your allies dertimes when or if they die at all.
As far as the longevity of this game, I think it will survive with modding and also multiplayer. I hope we can come up with a class based game like RtCW though.
ahhhh well that IS a relief then. So it sounds like the beach assult is scripted but other parts of the game are more open to what the actual player does or causes? Whew.
Well that is a horse of a different color
but still would be cool if the sniper was in a different place every time
