Even though I have an Audigy but no 5.1 speakers, you'd want to set up yours with surround. You WON'T be disappointed.

Do you get low end bass with your headphones? I bought a cheap pair once and they were so tinny I couldn't stand it. I ended up throwing them out.

my sony mdr 700's range is 5hz-30khz. you can get them for 100-150 deending on where you get them.

Very accurate headphones and they can get so loud the bass actually hurt my ear drums . Some people say they are bass heavy but IMO they accurately produce sounds in all ranges. Booming lows, Solid mids, crisp clear highs.

One of the best things about my PC setup is those headphones. Combine with an audigy and youll see what i mean

If you have a 5.1 speaker system, go with surround.

Try different settings and see what you like.

Whatever you do, make sure it is a Cambridge. I have had my 4 point for one full year and I love them. Awsome sound for a 4 point and it has a great bass. I love playing with them because they offer a great support and it really helps you get in the game, not to mention if you are into a good music system.

Surround Sound doesn't impress me much at all w/ either movies or games. All I care about is hearing the sounds and dodging the bullets. I don't care about hearing the bullets hear whiz past my head, hearing the sound drop is good enough to make me think it (let's just say a bullet) went past my head. All I have is two speakers for my computer, and I am contented.

Yeah I bought a Cambridge setup about a year and a half ago, im very happy with them. They are definately worth the extra money.

I just wish I could crank them more, but the next step up from what ive got im looking at about $600 and I just can't justify it.

Oh and thanks for the info madrebel, I might have to go and purchase those Sony's. I don't care if they are bass heavy, I like it that way.

headphones are better than speakers. at least you can elevate or decrease the volume without any retribution from your neighbors or roommates.
