Default Just bought my first airsoft....... - 08-03-2003, 01:10 PM

I just bought me an airsoft single action revolver, here is a pic http://www.airsoftatlanta.com/images/swrevolver_jpg.jpg and here is info on gun http://www.airsoftatlanta.com/spring.htm, its the M-19 4 inch. I didnt want to spend much so I just bpught a cheap revolver, 25$, and my cousin got the same thing. I hope to get more into to it, but are there any WW2 airsoft guns, besides the Tommy Gun and Colt 1911?Does Airsoft hurt like a paintball or worse? I love paintball, and now Im going to try something new. What are some good links for gear, like holster and do they make airsoft speed loaders? Also are guns like this plastic, do they hold up well? Thanks!

Welcome to the airsoft world son.
Youll soon have the bug and want the big boys guns....expensive, but worth it.
I have a G3 SG1 as my weapon of choice and i am waiting on the G363 to be released.
Does airsoft hurt more than paintball? Err to put it bluntly, yes!
I have had many many bruises. and trust me you do NOT want to be hit by someone who owns the PSG1.
Ive had one hit my mask and it cracked it. Ive since bought a much tougher and cooler looking one. Oh yeah, it knocked me sideways and i had a headache after it. All in good fun though.
The quality of the guns depend on the price and where you get them from.
http://www.airsoftdynamics.com is my personal home for guns as its UK based.
the guns have a good realistic feel to them, theyre basically just like the real things except they dont fire bullets. The police would shoot you if they saw you with one, even in the UK. my G3 SG1 has a strong plastic shell, but for the ultra realism there is a metal body available to buy.
For certain guns you can upgrade the gears so they fire faster, and you can have the barrels ground and stuff to make them more accurate, there are loads of add ons for them. tracer flash, silencers, holsters, slings, ammo pouches, tool kits, wide range of masks, and if youre loaded, you can buy a chaingun for about £2000 and a dune buggy thing to mount the chain gun onto. Untimate airsofting!

Word of advice, if you ever go to an arena, where people have big guns, wear shin pads, and never expose your crotch for too long.
Although admittadly, there is nothing nicer than seeing your target go down in a wail of agonising screams that haunt the battlefield.
And then getting a caution from the martial advising you to watch your aim next time...

I beleive there is an m-1 einfield or springfield or whatever the heck the US army world war 2 rifle was called. its not in full production yet but the prototypes are confrimed to have the *ping* sound when ammo runs out.

ive got a Marui US Socom .45, 0.5J. ive made 2 people bleed with it so far, and broke someones glasses with a headshot. we used to have bb wars after school on the school field. theres a drainage ditch at the one end, which we used as a trench and played CTF. i got shot in the tooth by another 0.5J while we were there, but someone else got shot in the neck and wrist by an air pistol [fires brass pellets], he survived tho.
you can buy full size, automatic M60s and Minimis aswell, but theyre not as easy to hide as a socom

Youre pretty f*cking stupid for playing airsoft in public and not wearing the saftey gear.
It you lot that cause the accidents that get people raising eyebrows about wether we should be allowed to buy the guns in the first place. hake:

Ya, totally agree.
Even we thickheaded swedes have enough common sense to slapp on some safety gear.

Thanks for the response! I will wear my Pintball mask, a guy in my class said he played paintball without a mask, I just thpught how stupid. Not wearing the right gear could run your life.DO the gas operated guns use Co2 type stuff? Is the gas expensive? I for sure will wear a mask, but I do not know about the pads and things, I live in North Texas, and its to hot for all that. :)

The gaspowered ones use CO2, Yes.
And No, it aint that expensive.

a guy i spoke to played a paintball match against a team where one of the members didnt wear his mask.
He got hit in the mouth, crushed on tooth and swallowed what he said felt like "gallons of paint".
So yeah, wear your mask at all times. biggrin:

I think you need to get an airsoft mask or helmet as they are designed to withstand the pellets rather than paintballs. a really cool looking one will set you back about $50. not too shabby, and theyre vented so you dont steam up.
The shin pad thing was just a wee caution. If youre play against the big boys toys, get one in the leg, front on and youre going down and youll be limping off the arena.
Still...... its good fun either way. I would only suggest you wore them if you were wearing baggy trousers so you didnt look like a pansy running around with visible shin pads on happy:

As youre new to airsoft, stick to electric guns, theyre great anyway and the gas guns dont have a major advance over them other than being a bit more powerful, but the gas gun owner is not invincible, you stand just as much chance of taking that S.O.B down before he takes you out. Gas guns are more expensive to run, having to buy new canisters instead of just plugging into the mains.
I carry a spare battery with me on the field but ive never had to use it. I can get 2 hours of fierce firing on one battery, unfortunatly, im nackered after about 30mins of running around oOo:

1. its not in public. its in a closed off school field, with no one around at all.
a teacher even came over to us just to check that we werent firing metal bullets [incase someone cut themselves on them in P.E]

2. my gun was the only one there that could make you bleed. 2 other people had 0.4J guns, 2 others had 0.12J fun-guns, and most of us were wearing masks or goggles etc. i didnt say anywhere that no one was wearing any saftey gear
also, me and one other person had heavyweight bullets, so there wasnt much chance of anyone else hitting anything other than at close range

I dont care what my mask looks like, I just want one thats comfortable, not one that gives you a headache. WIll a paintball mask do me fine till I get a new mask? Right now it just gonna be my cousin and I shootiung each other, also at what range is it close to shoot? My brother is a reserve game warden, and I thought maybe he could practice his taring against me with this, but this could envolve extremly close shots. Also what would be a good holster for me to get for the pistol? Im looking for stuff, I just wish I could get some speed loaders. Do the shotgun shoot one bb at time, or many? Sorry for all the questions, but I am just so pumped about starting, even if the pistol is a spring revolver!

Would a standerd .38 holster fit this?

I know Im going to own with this gun, its a TJ Hooker special! Actually Ill probably get owned.
