Default Breakthrough server help PLEASE....... - 10-09-2003, 07:08 PM

I had set up a server using gamespy just as I do with allied assault but when my friends try to find me in the server list it is not listed. I even tried by ip address but that kept saying server timeout. Am I doing something wrong ??????

Are you behind a router or firewall? If your behind a router you will need to open the game ports (see Dogmeats port guide at mohadmin.com) or place the server into the "DMZ" (see the router instructions). If your behind a firewall you may have to turn it off.
Good luck

Thanks for the info. I am not using a firewall and although I see the port guide, I don't know how to change the port on the game.

What I mean is you need to open or direct the game ports (like 12203) to your server. Look in the instruction manuel that came with your router. If you can't figure that out look for the instructions to place your server in the "DMZ" or open to the Internet.

I am not using a router or a firewall. Do I still have to place this in DMZ and if so how?

OK So you have a cable/dsl modem that plugs directly into your computer right? Are you setting up a dedicated server or are you hosting a game? When you host a game you play at the same time.

From the games Main Menu click Multi player, click Start Game, click to Select Game Type and on this menu does Dedicated Server have an "x" next to it? Does Gamespy have an "x" next to it?

Yes, I do have a cable modem. I am hosting a game. The dedicated server box is unchecked. The gamespy box is checked. When I start a server no one can see me.

What is your IP address and when will you be hosting a game? I'd like to try to join, but I don't use gamespy at all. Have your friends tried to find your game with the in game browser?
