I can't get past the basic training screen. As soon as I click on basic training the system locks up, music stops, mouse freezes, even in safe mode. I have all current drivers. I have tried GLsetup, says I'm OK. Although the drivers are not Microsoft certified they pass all the DX test. Apparently none of the drivers offered by Nvidia and Creative Labs are certified. I tried Nvidia beta drivers 27.xx. I tried reinstalling after spending 4 hours running
scan disk, defrag, and disk cleanup. I tried messing with my bios turning off agp 4x and power management. I've disabled this, enabled that, and so on. I have an AMD 700, 512 mb, 3d Blaster Annihilator2 (32 mb ddr Geforce2) , Sound Blaster Live Platinum (original). Can anyone help?

So the system just freezes? No error messages, BSOD, sound looping or anything similar to that?

Dude , do you have 2 , 256 ram sticks or just 512 ? I know it sounds nuts but my computer refuses to accept anything over 256 its brand new anything over 256 any 3d at all will make it lock up this might not be your case. Hard to honestly tell what the problem could be, most people would say its your video drivers but it can be anything from your cpu to your ram to your hard drive. I spent 2 months on a 1ghz dell when it first came out the entire thing broke lol 2 months man and the main problem was the cpu it would lock up almost immediately into a game or even loading . Computers are cool till they mess up huh.

If you have a need for drivers or related v/card problems--go here--best site on the net for video cards--good forums and techs.

Be sure to post your computer's specs when posting a problem on their forums. Also, sometimes the latest drivers are not always the best solution for every system. You might want to bump down the driver list.

Also, do not install new drivers over old drivers. Get their Detonator Destroyer driver remover.

Yea, I have 2 sticks. The thing is though, I have had no problems running anything else with high end settings - Wolf, Q3, UT, Ghost Recon, Max Payne, Red Faction, Flashpoint, etc. I'll try that site and removing a stick, thanks.

Try lowering the sound acceleration. I know that in some of my games, this has solved the problem.

You can find this by typing in the Run box: dxdiag. Just try moving the slider one notch at a time and see if that helps.

Same type of thing happened to me. The game installed fine but when I was in the Briefing Room and clicked on Basic Training, or Arzew, the game would lock up and I would have to reset my computer.

Try connecting to the internet and then try playing the game again. If it loads up fine then you know that the game was trying to dial up the internet whenever you click on Basic Training, or Arzew. For a permanent fix, click Start, Settings, Control Panel, Internet Tools, Connection Settings, and then click on Never Dial A Connection.

Worked for me, hope it works for you.
