The only reason the shotgun is so easy is because the other guns are incorrectly modeled.
The shotgun has a faster "reaction" (I tested it and I have better reaction with the shotgun than with the BAR or Tommy)
Also if I shot any one of you with a real Tommy Gun at close range, even if you were wearing a kevlar vest, you would be flat on your ass from one shot, period! It's a .45 cal weapon, it don't take 4-5 shots to kill someone.
The BAR is also too weak and random, and takes a hell of a long time to swing around.

One time I was playing Stalingrad, I got sick of everything and started using a shotgun. I got the same score in 3 minutes that it took me 12 minutes to get with normal weapons.

Honestly, all weapons take skill to use, even using a rocket launcher needs skill so that you don't blow yourself up.

Whether or not people try and incorporate these skills is another question. So in conclusion you can't really say one weapon is harder to use then another.

Why do you all have to have everything fed to you in black and white terms?

Neither the shotgun nor the Sniper are more skillful to use. They are just different.

People seem to forget that it's the skill of the player behind the gun that makes the difference.

What if someone starts a map with a shotgun, but switches at the first opportunity to an SMG or MG when they see one on the floor?

Are they lame?

You all need some perspective.

Alright, an interesting topic came up the other day on a server I was playing on. What gun overall takes more skill to use? Shotgun or Sniper Rifle? I am sick of people complaining when they get shot with a shotgun, calling whoever is behind it a newb and whining. People say it is cheap! I'll tell you what is cheap, crouching in the dark waiting for someone to walk out a door. I propose that the shotgun is a more difficult weapon to use. Granted it's easy to pull the trigger when you run into someone coming through a door. But, Hey! That's what the weapon is foor, close quarters. But you can't tell me it doesn't take skill to dance around 4 SMG'ers on the roof of omaha. It takes much more agility to dodge bullets and come in close enough to get decent range out of the shotgun than kneeling down and switching from target to target with a sniper rifle. So, give the boom-stick some respect!

uhmmmm moving side to side and closing distance doesnt take that much skill.

aiming at a target that is close range with a spread projectile weapon doesnt take skill.

a sniper that can hit a moving target consitently gets more respect from me than a shotty whore.

i find it funny cause the "l33t" shot whores can only use one gun. they cant score similar numbers with any other gun.

also dont think that going up against 4 smgers and winning is an everyday thing. you know that was a fluke and you should be dead.

Actual the shotgun takes more skill then the sniper IMHO. Hitting a moving target is not hard in this game. Just lead them a bit and fire when the cross your hairs.
With the shottie you need to ensure you hit the first time, since it is so slow to reload. You also have to run people down.

Both guns are on different ends of the spectrum. Shottie need to run people done (close quaters comabat), sniper you need to stay out of peoples way.

The shotgun has more pellets in it right now than it should. So it is a little more powerful then it really was then.

The sniper rifle requires a skilled user to be most effective, its not just about pulling a trigger. Its about positioning, awareness ,patience, timing, and at the very end, is pulling the trigger.

Look at it this way give a newbie a shotgun, then see how many kills he gets in his first 5 rounds, then give him a sniper rifle and see how many kills he gets.

The shottie is all about reflexes and hardly any aiming. But when it comes to the sniper rifle, some of u say that its easy, cuz all u gota do is pull the trigger and lead...

Anyone ever try hitting a running soldier in the head through a window after spotting him on the window beside the one u are going to shoot him?

Or when being outnumbered, u shoot one guy down, then u relocate to another spot, then u look back and u see soldiers snooping around the spot u were just in, then picking another one off & so on...

U give a newbie a sniper rifle, and the most he'll know how to do is just aim and pull the trigger.(which is pretty bad, considering u gotta find a good spot, not too exposed, and if in danger, to have a getaway route.

but if u give a newb a pumper, hell run around at close range blasting everything without much thought to it.Other than running around in no-mans land.

Yeah, with rockets I will shoot a little behind the enemy to avoid suicide. And rockets are horrible at long range. Just try it from the Higgins boat to the pill box at Omaha Beach. Even if the rocket hits where you were aiming, the target has plenty of time to move. Rockets are strictly medium range.

With shotty, you need to move in close, which requires skills at hiding, locating the enemy, avoiding being shot, etc. But actually hitting them doesn't take much skill at aiming.

However, some people think sniper is so cool and requires so much skill because of movies like Enemy at the Gates. I don't think we will see a movie like 'Enemy at the Gates 2: Shotty Whores'. Well, sniper does take much skill in REAL LIFE, but not so much in MoH. There is no real hiding, camoflage, wind effects, gravity, etc. It does take some skill to aim, especially without scope. Up close, it will lose to any other weapon, including pistol.

It is wrong to say one or the other is superior or easier. For example: on Omaha Beach, will you do better with a sniper, or shotty? What about in the French Village? Sniper dominates shotty on Omaha, shotty dominates sniper in French Village. So it depends on the map.

It's just people with attitudes that think they are so great that put down any of the weapons. Each has its place and requires its own set of skills.

Ask yourself this: If you're such a good sniper, then how did the shotgunner get up so close to you and kill you?

I guess my point in this whole thread was to give some respect to the shottie whores and stop treating snipers like gods. We shotgun weilders are the ones sticking our necks out by rushing through hallways to stop anyone from getting our snipers. We are the one's with the balls dancing around like mad-men risking sitting out for 10 minutes in spectator mode while the snipers hide in the shadows playing cat and mouse. Long live the shottie.

Nothing wrong with the boys in the ivory tower thinning the herd a bit so you shottie whores have an easier time dropping the rest.

That's why we're gods.
