Lucky, Read a Book - Nope. Maybe in 1952.. Not during the Second World War.

sure maybe some sixteen star general had a custom 30rnd clip made for his M1. Of course every one was issued with khaki pecker-warmers too...

uh, sure, you are going to blast a Stuka out of the sky by shooting a 30-30 round through the canopy...

remember, when pulling out of a dive, the stuka is getting pretty close to 300 mph, kinda hard to make a pinpoint shot. Also, the canopy was made out of 3/4 inch thick, bullet-proof glass, made so that flak/birds/extremely well placed shots, couldn't puncture it.

With the bazooka, they were known to be horribly inacurate, especially against quickly moving targets.

You're gonna need some sort of vehicle mounted weapon, a FkVrLg 38, A Quad or double browning .50cal, some thing with a little more spray....

man, i dont really give two craps about shooting down planes... would be pretty cool and lots of flames though.

but that one dude is right, u guys need to ease off on the people who might not have all the facts or might not be quite correct.

for instance, if i were to say... "hitler wore leather shorts in the wintertime!"

i would immediatly be pounced upon, for one point they would have to point out ALL the mistakes i made in grammer and spelling... and then of course i would be corrected... first off they werent just leather, but had little cozy pads for your ass... etc etc blah blah

you get my point, even though your head might be a WWII book of knowledge, you dont have to try and show everyone up and make them feel like complete dogshit...... give everyone a chance for christ sakes

Lucky - The History Channel is known to show and feature wrong footage for the periods they are talking about.

There where not any 30 Round "Banana" Magazines made or seen during World War II. As I've said, It's a post war devoplment, and It is likly that the History Channel was talking about the M1 and M2 Carbines, and showed one firing full auto with a 30 Round Magazine in action in KOREA.

The History Channel is a great channel, but they themselves make errors and mistakes.

JezusChr7st - You needn't take it so personally, attitudes and composer are hard to display through plain text and little faces. In my opinion, I think that if someone has a Idea or question, statement etc to post on this forum, Think about what you are really asking.

Von Paulus, you had a question and you asked it like you meant it. That's great.

But most of the Replies are like this. Someone else may at first look at this topic heading and think "Dude! That would be hella awesome kick ass if I could shoot down some Nazi airplane with my gun!!" So, they jump in here and kind of throw around whatever they think would just be awesome cool, and sometimes (SOMETIMES) ends up with some silly statement kind of based in fictional reality or whatever you want to call it. I call it just "Historically Inaccurate." I see something like this, and think they are actually serious and throw some facts at them. And they get bent out of shape because I've ruined their concept. Big deal. Lighten up whenever I say something. I'm just pointing out something "More Realistic" or "Historically Accurate."

Yes well that is all fine and good.... but you must admit that you do take it a tad harsh on some of us lesser ones...

i for instance can tell you for one, that i know very little about WWII compared to most of you, and mind you i fancy i know quite abit.... so it just goes to show the areas of vast knowledge that some of you know...

and i agree that some some of the posts are just people ranting on about certain things... in my case i would just skip it and wait for someone to post something worth replying to.. not jumping in to correct there every word.

just my 50 cents

First off, Stukas are dive bombers, so there is a chance, albeit a small one, to knock those fuckers outta the sky with a rifle. It would take an incredibly well placed shot through the cockpit canopie(sp?) that clears the props and such, BUT it still could happen. On another related note, I have read of infantry taking out Kraut planes, and generally making hunburgers out o' the fucking pilots. Granted it was only with low flying planes and aboot twenty guys shooting at him... but still.

the only gun from WWII that I can think of having a "banana" style clip would be this:

the German MP43/44 or StG44. No American gun had these yet...
