We can ban these guys Over and over again.. However, does no good if they spoof their IP. Banning their subnet is a little harsh as well because you will be banning guys who happen to use the same subnet.

So we need something, thats alot more permanant then the damn IP addy.
I get tired of booting cheaters and guys who are just rude, and have no respect for other players. They change their names and spoof their IPS and just come on in. Makes me wanna quit opening up my server to the public ya know?

If you have an EDUCATED idea or suggestion then lets here it.
Someone said there is something built in to the expansion to help this situation.

who knows?
Could MOHAA become another CS?

I can't help ya but I can say that spoofing IP's wont get them anywhere.... the return UDP packets you send to their computer's "spoofed IP" would end up at either the wrong address or a dead end.

I think he means they are resetting their connection ( ipconfig /release and /renew )

The only way to do this is with autokick

It's much easier for you to ban them every time they come back then it is for them to release and renew.

Like you said by banning a complete subnet. There is a possibility that your banning a good player.

Also with autokick you can ban a name as well. this way if they come in with that name or IP they will be banned.

Good Luck this is a tricky situation.

The most reliable way I can think of is to serialize each CD of MoHAA and have that serial number be a part of the client / server handshake when joining a server. To spoof that, they would have to have multiple instances of MoHAA installed from different CDs...kind of a pain in the butt.

Hey rude. Yeah, I took a bit of a break (truth be told, I'm still on one). When the expansion comes out, I'll jump back in if they have fixed the status command. If not, well, I'll probably just play til I get bored.

Tribes 2 did something kinda like that I think, in order to play you had to register a player name which linked up with the serial from your CD. Pretty nifty idea, except for the many people who wanted the same name and couldn't get it. Of course, they allowed you to have alias names (as many as you wanted I think) and those could be duplicates of other people's. problem was that sometimes you needed to use the primary name for stuff (some servers wouldn't even let alias names in the game to play). But I'd assume you'd never have to worry about not being able to ban someone for good

CD key sounds good EXCEPT do you really want SERVER ADMINS (most teens) loggin your cd key? I mean they could take your key and give it to a friend and so on. Hell some guys may go as far as using a cd key gen and reinstalling the game.

Man, I see now in the gaming world this will be a growing problem, I mean already on a clan server (not recon anymore) we have a guy who refreashes and changes name all the time. We just let him in and ignore him.. But he loves scripts and hacks.

Oh well..

No fix yet.. we will keep trying.

The serial could be validated by EA or gamespy. Once that happened, you could then be passed off to the game server .

The game server of individual should not even have to worry about this. Novalogid does it with the DeltaForce serial of games and has a 50/50 chance of actually working.

There are still problems with Novalogic, but I think they are more worried about warez then cheating.

Maybe EA does not think, cheating in MOH is that bad??? They better get off there butts and start taking care of people who paid for this game.
