for every server or one particular one, there are routing issues.

It doesn't matter how much more bandwith you gained. If it takes longer for you to send and recieve signals from the server, your ping will go up. But the problem may not be on your side, RD said on the server last night that the hosting company is having issues with MCI.

Here is my situation

I have cable, I live in RI right now the game server is in Boston. about 50 miles away, in distance.

My cable company has it's network setup so when I exit and actually get on the Internet and off coxes private network. I exit out of Atlanta.
then my packets have to come all the way back up the coast.

Now if I had dsl, they might have a different system, they might exit there private network out of NY then hit Boston.

So it also has to do with how your old and new provider is setup.

On a side note. aa.com and doa servers are having problems with our providers ISP ( the person they get connected to the Internet ) This will change when they move the servers to Washington DC. You should see some improvement. I went from a 65ms down to a 27ms. The funny thing is I go through 3 more routers to get there, but they are better and faster

Hope this little rant helps you understand how your ISP and Internet works

Hey I have a question my stupid family keeps downloading all these damn songs from Kazaa. We have about 560-565 songs on our database. Since it uses up cache memory, will that screw up my ping? Also if I get rid of programs/close them down by ctrl-alt-del will my ping get better? Its okay now but as the days go by it seems to get crappier and crappier. I frequently defrag my hard drive, clean out my hard drive, the works. Granted my comp sucks but I used to get better fps and ping then I do now.

No unless your playing the songs while you play MOH, just being on your harddrive will do nothing for the performance . You are doing the right thing by defraggin your system.

If you or your family surf the net a lot, Check your system for adware.
download the free program here:
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/
You will be surprised at home much of this spyware is on your system .This spyware can cause some problems with your system.
Run this on a regular basis ( after or before you defrag) and you should see a slight increase or just a more reliable system.

programs running in the background will do nothing for ping unless they are reporting back to there mothership, IE spyware.
