rolleyes: The people who flee to canada these days (vietnam included) are not cowards, quite the opposite. All are much more enlightened induviduals than those who would be the tools of an expansionistic regime. WWI/II was a *little* different, though not as much as alot of you would think. We were actually one single fake letter away from supporting the germans in the furst war. Remember the majority of our population at that time was german. There is also alot of evidence supporting that our government knew about pearl harbor in advance, but did nothing (except of course conveniently get out important ships out of the harbor for "training" runs.) Worked well, it brought the country together to support the war which our gov. wanted. America was also alot more ignorant about our government's hidden agendas back then. WW1 was such a stupid war....WW2, is entirely different....Imagine what would have happened if noone stepped in in both theatres....Japs would have pushed on Aussie/NZ, Germans on England, etc...

I think WW2 stands alone as the only major war that had no alternative for the allies other than sacrifice.

The two wars are very intricately woven together though, it was the fault of the allies at the end of WWI that WWII even happened. They were far from isolated events is what I'm saying.
