the actual image is lame, its what i was given, so i made an animation to show a shuttles orbit compared to the moon. and for those of you who do your homwork, every frame or 36 degress that the shuttle goes around to the one day or 12.86 degrees the moon orbits the shuttle goes around another 15 times just FYI

every day the moon goes around the earth 12.86 degrees
every day the shuttle goes around 15.1 times or 15 times and 36 degrees
there fore every frame that the shuttle and moon move the shuttle, realisticly in proportion has gone around an unseen 15 times

the circut of the moon is longer than the circut of the shuttle.
same reasoning nascar drivers try and get the 'inside track' on a curve......less distance to travel.

doesn't explain why the last song on an old record plays at the same speed as the first song.

ever looked at one under a microscope, guess not
the space the bumps and valleys farther apart in proportion to the smaller circumference. you handheld cd players do the opposite, they actually adjust the speed of the motor to compinsate for the larger circumfrence

Perhaps the grooves in the record are closer together as they get further away from the center. I don't know.

Edit: Someone answered already. wallbash:
