"Some readers may recall that several class action law suits were filed against Apple last year reagarding the iPod's battery life. In further news on that front, the Superior Court of California for San Mateo County approved a settlement in one of these suits earlier today. The settlement covers users who purchased a first, second, or third generation iPod on or before May 31, 2004 and experienced "battery failure," which, it was defined, occurrs when...

"...the capacity of an iPod's battery to hold an electrical charge has dropped to four hours or less of continuous audio playback, with earbuds attached, with respect to the Third Generation iPod, or five hours or less of continuous audio playback, with earbuds attached, with respect to the First Generation iPod and the Second Generation iPod."
In a recent posting, AppleInsider provides further information about the situation and summarizes the settlement benefits in detail. Any user eligible to benefit from the settlement must submit a claim for every iPod that meets the defined criteiron. "

I've had my 3rd gen since October 03 (i think) and it's like new, practically no scratches on it, and the battery's still going strong. My friend got one around the same time and it's an absolute fucking mess, scratched to fuck, I think she uses it to wash the dishes or something. oOo:
