Default Generation Kill - 06-09-2005, 10:14 PM

Anybody read this? I just started it and i must say its fucking RIGHT on. I mean the stuff they talk about and describe such as Lingo, and the way the guys interact and live with eachother is dead on. Its about a Force recon unit in Iraq when the war started. Its so accurate its awesome. A few lines from the book stick out at me like this one

""ill say one thing about these guys, when we take fire, not one of them hesitates to shoot back. In WW2, when Marines hit the Beaches, a surprisingly high percentage of them didnt fire their weapons, even when faced with direct enemy contact. They hesitated. Not these guys. Did you see what they did to that town? They fucking destroyed it." - Lt. Fisk

Also

"We're like americas little pit bull. They beat it, starve it, mistreat it, and once in a while they let it out to attack someone" (refering to Force recon units)

The book is funny and fucked up all at the same time. a good read to anyone instrested in Marine Corps Lifestyle.
