I got hit with a couple of viruses and spybots on my pc. normally, it takes me a couple of rounds with norton and spybot s&d and then its all over, but this time these bastards are getting persistent and i just know im missing a few cause they keep popping up again. anyone recommend a good spyware and .exe detector? i got spybot and security taskmanager, but theyre the free version and they dont seem to get it this time.
 suggestions pls?

EZ Antivirus works wonders for discovering infected files and such. Although I'm not sure about deleting programs.. freak:

I had a virus problem just yesterday, and it sounds alot like yours. I ran norton, didnt pick up anything on the scan, and most of my spyware programs didnt get it.
I rebooted, let norton start its auto protect, and bingo it picked up about 7 trojans, blocked them all. Then i downloaded a program called spywareguard, it block browser hijackers in realtime, i finally blocked all the programs from fucking with IE, then i ran Hijack this! and deleted anything i didnt recognize, then i installed firefox rolleyes:

Also, there were quite a few things on my add/remove programs list that i couldnt delete, when you tried to uninstall it took you to a webpage, and theres a link on there to download a program to uninstall their spyware, i know it sounds like a trap but it works and i havent picked up anything since then.

Also if it cleans them and it keeps coming back you'll probably need to disable system restore. |
