The article is disapointing but not to unexpected. The fact that the OPFOR Gen. Quit half way through is a sign that something was not right. He sounds as if he used some ingenious tactics and inflicted heavy losses.

It sounds more as if the US cheated in its own war game to keep morale high. If a suppoedly weaker OPFOR is being really sneaky and smart and tearing apart your force morale will fall. The games may have started out as a serious test but slipped into a "were losing, make sure we win" situation after a few losses. A little to much pride.

[quote:585b9]Instead of using radios to send orders, which the Blue forces could intercept, Gen. Van Riper relied on motorcycle couriers.

When the Blue fleet sailed into the Persian Gulf, Gen. Van Riper sent apparently harmless small planes and boats into the area. After the Blue commander issued an ultimatum to surrender, Gen. Van Riper issued his attack orders via the morning call to prayer broadcast from his country's mosques. [/quote:585b9]

Brilliant. I commend this Gen. for using unconventional tactics that he knew would throw the US off. I think he was doing a good job of preparing the team for some off hand tactics that they may encounter.

the US general during the press confrence said that the other general stayed the whole time and made suggestions after. Although I find much of what they say in a press confrence hard to belive.

Pfc.Green, i may be anti usa military and government but I assure you, that I was watching CNN during a press confrence with the USA defence secretary and a General. In wich they were asked about "resurecting" sertain military vehicles to carry on with a sertain scenario. The reason given was that "It's un practical to have men brought in, get killed the first day and have to sit around.. It would be a waste of resources." and that "For certain scenarios that were given some vehicles were necissary to them. This meant that we did need to bring back certain forces to host a number of different scenarios."
