Performance Problem with BF2 and RAM -
10-01-2005, 10:07 PM
ok, I I had this old stick a 256 pc3200 RAM I had from back in the day, I figured, since its laying around I might asdwell use and have some SLIGHT performance increase on PC
I stuck the stick of RAM in and now BF2 runs ridiculoulsy sluggish when I play. my FPS just stays at 15.0 fps all the time and doesnt go any higher.
My PC runs fine and the game loads fine, its just when I play. and all my settings are on medium. nothing has changed.
is there some compatibilty issue here with the RAMs?
I had 2 sticks of 512 corsair pc3200 in there already
SLOT 3 is where I placed the 256 in

or would perhaps reinstalling the game fix this?

it could be because its a different manufacurer, it could also be bacause its running at different timings.
Your new ram: 3.0 4 4 8
Old RAM 2.5 3 3 8

is there a way to make it run at one particular speed?
and I read on hardforum that a different brand of RAM wont make a difference in performance.

it doesnt usually, but i can do on occasion. When it does your pc wont usually boot though. Not sure about making it run at certain timings. You could try overclocking your old ram to the new timings, or underclocking your new ram to the speed of your old ram. I havent tried it, so you will have to confirm with akuma or gerv.

First of all your 'Wank Interleave' needs to be enabled and lastly you need to stop putting different sized cocks in your slots rolleyes:
