I don't think they should be taken down. One could argue that the stars represent the Americans. And some of our Germans friends here can easily say that they feel disrespected with those stars up. The reason the cross is up because it looks nice. I mean we have a few History buffs here (inlcuding myself) who enjoy little things like that. We know that WWII was a terrible period for many people, we do not denie that. I don't think BS means anything by having the swastika or the Iron Cross up on the site, it just looks...well...it looks cool.

I personally like the stars over the iron cross for aesthetic reasons, as well as those mentioned by Ragnar. That's assuming that we don't have absent stars brighter than present ones, of course

Wake up Badscript, don’t use the iron cross as your rating icon. It’s a German award and should only be used in a historic manner. An active use is some kind of disrespect of those who fought against it. Believe me. The feelings are still there.

No. Of course not B.W. You most see the difference between passive and active use. Here is one example. A WW II movie can contain iron crosses and / or other nazi symbols. It’s difficult to make it without it. On the other hand, it’s disrespect to rate the same movie by using iron crosses. So it’s ok to show images like the one in the top left corner, because that’s how it was during the W.W.II. But if you own a similar building, then I will advice you against to install those swastika flags.
I hope you see the difference B.W.?

Ever herd of a company called "Independent"? They have those crosses on their CLOTHING. Skateboarders wear that crap.

If you guys have such a strong feeling about it then I can put the stars back on.

Let me disable them and think about it.

I don't have a problem with the iron cross, I think they look rather good, but I guess we should respect the minorities' opinions too, good job removing them B.S

The feelings are still there for those German soldiers who are treated like monsters, for being soldiers, and doing their duty. Was it up to them to start the war? Is is shameful for them to show their medals, if they are de-nazified?

They do have de-nazified versions of medals given to German soldiers in WW2. German veterans, living in Germany, can wear such medals, out on the streets, if they like, as long as they are de-nazified.

De-nazified medals remove the swastika, and sometimes put the cross in it's place.

I think your statement demeans those who fought for Germany, and won those medals, who had nothing to do with the political aspect of the war. Those brave men, just like the Allies, fought, and for their valor, received awards.

I think de-nazified medals show the German warrior's honor and bravery, and are not a disgrace. I think German soldiers shouldn't be all classified as a disgrace, either. I'm not saying you do, this is just a general statement about how most people think of the German soldier, in WW2.

These are just my opinions, though, and I hope you respect my opinion. I do understand your feelings, Ragnar, and I totally understand you viewpoint.
