Default ATI Radeon 7500 vs. Geforce 4 - 09-01-2002, 08:54 PM

OK, that subject sounds a little stupid. Obviously, the Ge4 is the far superior video card. However... I am asking about this as I am still in search of a laptop. For all the searching I've done, I can only find Dell offering a laptop with a Geforce4 in it. Almost all other companies offer ATi Mobility Radeon 7500. Now, the question: Which would you prefer, or which do you think is better? A Geforce4 w/ 32mb DDR mem, or an ATi w/64mb DDR mem? This constantly plagues me! HELP!

The GEforce 4 that is in that laptop is a scaled down budget version.

Well, lemme see here. The 9700 just came out for PC, its no where near the laptop world yet. Like I said, the only 2 decent cards out there are the Geforce4 and ATi7500. Von, the 128mb version is not available in laptops either. The 64mb was just recently made available. And who said anything about gaming?! So Korvac, thanks for the input. I'm just really curious which you think is better of these two: The ATi7500 64mb or Geforce4 32mb? Thanks!

Probably the ati version. More ram = more bandwidth, bandwidth = good

Or take a look here

actually the 8500 is better than the 7500. 7500 lacks pixel/vertex shaders. i think you'ld be better off waiting for a mobility 9700.
