Default Sig Hackers - 09-10-2002, 08:10 AM

I don't know what goes through some peoples' minds sometimes...

Fortunately, I didn't get to see what was done to the various 9/11 sigs. I get the impression that they were pretty crude.

I was thinking this morning about the several members of the board who are so adamantly against paying tribute to those killed in the attacks. I dusted off the part of my brain that was used for my Psychology bachelor's degree and thought about why these guys were so opposed to the 9/11 subject matter.

My diagnosis: They're scared.

Last September, they got scared and they've been repressing their fear, anger, and grief. They won't allow themselves to deal with what happened to their countrymen and their neighbours. This repression manifests itself in many ways:

- Comments about the stupidity of Ground Zero tribute coverage on TV
- Trying to destroy images made in tribute to the fallen and their families
- Avoidance of media coverage by "watching the cartoon network".
- General hatred and malice towards those who want to remember and respect the dead.

These guys aren't sociopaths attempting to wreak havoc. They're scared and unable to deal with their own emotions. They're petrified that things like this will happen again, maybe in their own city. Their subconscious is telling them that if they ignore the problem and ignore the results of the problem, it will go away.

Ok, that's all for this session. That'll be $175 please.

As for sig creation, I'm going to have to think about whether or not I want to bother making 'em anymore. If they're going to get hacked all the time, I'm gonna give it up.

I agree, i think they might also be angry. I heard that is the reason most people join racial supremist and other hate groups. I was pretty angry last year when it happened but i dealt with by talking about it in school, and with my family and friends. Some people however kept this anger inside, this is the reason most people now have at least a slight hatred towards bin Laden. I guess it's just a very peculiar way for them to cope with loss.

Perhaps they just lack the ability to put themselves in another person's place? Which is common of children, they believe if they cover thier eyes, they can't be seen, hence 'peek-a-boo' is a favorite game of theirs. They just havn't matured since they were 2 years old. They may have learned a lot, have gotten older, and gotten jobs, and may call themselves mature. But, they still lack the capacity to understand others. So basically, it may be immaturity that has caused this backlash.

The reason I will always remember 9/11 is because I put myself into the situation myself. Thought of what it would be like to look out my window and see a plane coming right at me. Or to feel the rumble of the building when it happened, or to see people trapped, or to be one of the people that decide that jumping may be their only hope, or to have a family and to have to call them up and tell them I may not make it and have it be my last goodbye, or to be running down the steps while the building is collapsing. I feel that anyone that is not hurt by it, well, simply has not matured enough to put themselves in another persons place.

Hey Zoner.....finally, i see an "intelligent" person on this board. I respect your views and wouldn't blame you if you stopped with the sigs. No one needs to be treated that way.
