the biggest factor would be streanth of schedule. If you play the good teams it puts you near the top, if you schedule pansy teams you are near the bottom where you belong. As far as teams being good year in and out that is true. There are about a dozen teams that always have good teams but there are reasons for that. When you prove yourself to be one of the best teams year in and year out you get on national TV more. That in turn helps recruting, the talented kids want to be on TV each week because that will help them get into the NFL so the best teams always get the best recruits which in turn makes them one of the best teams again[/quote:ae3c4]

but how is that fair...not their fault thier schedule was against pansy teams...who knows they couldn've beat the good ones too...

Everyone has atleast 1-3 tough games that will prove just how good they are. If that team manages to go undefeated up until they face a good team, they will still probally ranked high. An example of what you are talking about is Rutgers. They had a shitty schedule all year and are currently undefeated but tonight they will be facing another undefeated team.

1 life aint fair

2 teams set thier schedules. So they have total control who they play (out of conference play) al teams play the last 2/3 of thier season in conference (for those in conferences) the other games are set by the teams about 5 or so years in advance

I know more about football than most, It can be read eother way. I could say Michigan and Ohio State are the only undefeated teams in the Big Ten and that would be true, not some spin to make your team seem better than they are

No reasearch will prove that it is unfair...why does Univeristy of Michigan deserve the chance to go to the big game every year where other teams even if they destroy everyone are already doomed to failure from the start?

seems as convoluted as bush's foriegn policy.

if I had a crayon font I would use it. It mostly boils down to streanth of schedule. If you play tough teams year in and year out you will become one of the elite dozen or so teams. THE University of Michigan got to where it is because it has eanred it. They have the most wins of any other team, anywhere, they have the best winning % of any team, anywhere. There are a dozen or so teams that have also earned to be where they are. It isnt over 1 year it is over decades of winning aganist tough teams not cupcakes

I don't see what is so complicated. If there are multiple teams that are undefeated, they decide the bowl teams by who they have defeated. If one team beat better (higher ranked) opponents than the other, they get the bid...easy as that.
