2000 Blazer -
11-23-2006, 11:41 AM
So I'm thinking about getting a new vehicle. I've narrowed my choices down to Chevy Blazer, Chevy S-10, Ford Ranger or a Ford Explorer 2 door.
My parents are trying to like talk me out of getting this Blazer [url:197c1]http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp?tracktype=usedcc&searchType=21&paId=213 447634&pageNumber=0&numResultsPerPage=50&largeNumR esultsPerPage=0&sortorder=descending&sortfield=PRI CE+descending&certifiedOnly=false&recnum=10&leadEx ists=true&criteria=K-%7CE-%7CM-_9_%7CD-_76_%7CN-N%7CR-75%7CI-1%7CP-PRICE+descending%7CQ-descending%7CZ-33990&aff=newspres[/url:197c1]
They say that consumer reports said it cost alot to repair and it costs that much more since it has 4x4. Anyone ever had a Blazer in the past? Any problems or stories?

I already have a car and kinda want something diffrent. Plus a SUV/Truck is more to my style since I do alot of outdoor stuff like fishing,hiking,camping,etc...
I've been looking at pickups, but the problem is that where I live, pickups retain their value so well , that they're expensive. It cost about 12 grand for a 2000 S-10 with 70-80k miles.

damn, that cars' barely been driven if it only has 60k miles on it. thats a plus, but if youre gonna buy a used car you should go with a sedan - toyota or nissan.

dont get a blazer. I have never heard a good thing about blazers and Ive had quite a few family members, and friends who have had them. Try to get a toyota or a nissan truck or suv. The things are more reliable, cheaper to fix, and IMO better at everything than a blazer, s-10, or exploder.

Used to have a 95 blazer, would not get one again,
fuel line problems had to put 4 fuel pumps in a year and a half,
plus the egr and o2 sensor kept getting gummed up with carbon,
just spent more money tryin to keep it runnin than a nother vehicle price.

Blazers are one of the top 10 most stolen vehicles in Canada, FYI. I would assume the list would be similar in the states.

We have a '01 Ford Ranger, and an '04 Jeep Lib. The Ranger has been awesome, though we dont drive it as much as the Jeep because obviously it doesnt seat as many.
I cant see why you want a Blazer, not only is it ugly, but theres nothing totally redeeming about it...
I've driven the ranger around w/ my parents, it's got a knack for parallel parking

Sonoma or S-10, a Ranger with 2wd V6 4.0l would be my second choice.
