I know we have a tech forum, but i figure more people will view this here. I just built myself a computer about 1-2 weeks ago. Whenever I play a games like CS:S or Oblivion my computer would show a blue screen and then restart itself. The message that would appear on the blue screen was something like "Driver_IRQL_Not_Less_or_Equal..." I searched around and figured it might have something to do with my memory. I dled a memory tester and found numerous errors on my 2gig Corsair RAM. I decided to try buy 2gigs of Mushkin RAM instead and I just installed it and now the errors are even worse then before. My computer would restart before I even signed into windows. Im thinking now that it might be my motherboard because when I first opened it, I saw one of the little coaxes (dont know if this is the right term) near the memory slots bent and it was intefering with inserting the memory stick, but i just bent it back and slid the stick in. Here are my specs...

Asus P5N32-E SLI
Geforce 8800GTX 786mb
Quad Core 6600 2.4ghz
2gigs of Ram
400gig HD
530W PSU

I know this won't help much but if I was in your position I'd take it to some small computer repair shop. Maybe just for advice rather than him fixing it for cash because the last thing you want to do is make it worse at the mo'

Hard to say, that driver irql bs is a pretty common error and from what ive seen windows throws it up pretty often for any number of errors. Possible the motherboard was at fault, no way one of those coils should have been overlapping a ram slot.

I just installed the utility to monitor temp, and voltage, etc that came with my Mobo. I got 9 warnings, first it said 1.2VHT is running at 1.49V, and also that my fans Chassis, Opt1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and PWR are all at 0 RPMs. Could that be causing it to crash? And how do i fix this?

Might want to try restoring the fail safe defaults in bios, strange the programs not picking them up though, check the bios to see if theres an option for reporting fan speeds.

I did a search on google for 1.2VHT and someone else had the same problem. Turns out there was a problem with this Asus mobo where it would automatically set the 1.2VHT to higher settings and it would give a warning because it was running to high...gj Asus. I manually set it to 1.2 and it seems to be working. Dont want to jinx it though.

lol actually i was researching and it was suggested that i do that. but im having trouble updating the BIOS, it says that it is unable to find a server to connect to. You have a link to Asus BIOS updates or anything? Is flashing a BIOS the same thing as updating it?

Well i dled the update, but do u have to burn it to CD or something cause theres no install option or anything? Its a BIN file

your floppy working? because if you can't get binn files working with Asus Update tool then look for instructions on running it from a floppy disk......

I have an asus mobo as well. The bios can be can be kind of tricky. Download the asus update program. To update the bios I have found that it is easier to download the latest bios, then install it using the asus update program.

From there, manually configure the memory using the suggested memory timings (latency, voltage, etc.)

If you still have problems, try doing this one stick at a time.

I wish I could help you more but I'm buzzed and my asus system is at my fiance's house and I'm on my laptop 87 miles away.

I dont have a floppy drive, but i just dled it and used the Asusupdater thing. It flashed the BIOS and so i think im running at the latest BIOS. Is there anyway to check if it updated? Also do i have to go into the BIOS and change anything? thanks for the help so far.

The BIOS firmware should have some sort of identifying # so you can determine which version you have.

When I start my PC up the BIOS version shows up on the first DOS-like screen. Surely it can be found in the actual BIOS menu though.
There may be some kind of program that can check too but the BIOS menu is the best bet....

Still having problems after updating it now?
