Default What a horrible weekend. - 11-11-2007, 07:11 PM

A friend of mine died this weekend. She was in the car with two drunk drivers when they were off roading at 3:30 in the morning and flipped an SUV into a canal and she drowned in the back. It's really scary too, because she was at the party I was at Saturday night. As soon as I walked in the door she gave me a hug and was one of the sweetest girls you could ever meet. The kids she was with, were completely shit faced. I mean they were just super hammered. They were drinking straight bourbon, whiskey and beers all night. When the kids were leaving, they said good bye to me and asked if I wanted to go with them 4 wheeling. I told em no cause I could see how drunk they were and had a gut feeling something bad was going to happen. Another girl that was going to go with them didn't, thank god. I told her she could spend the night at my friends house and shouldn't chance it. It's really sad and scary to think about how something so tragic, could have easily been avoided. I know that a good amount of us on the forums are pretty young and do dumb shit. I for one having drank and drive and looking back on it now, I horribly regret it.

would never drink drive, friends have done it before and just wrecked their cars and been fine but its the way you put other people at risk weather they be in the car or public outside.

sorry to hear about your friends dude, hope your handling well yourself.

1st of all, very sorry about your friend. I found out last night a girl from school died in a wreck also a few years back but i never knew.

I'm wondering why NOBODY stopped her from getting into a truck with a bunch of drunks?

Life is short, tread carefully.

Yeah I was wondering that too Arkan. I guess we all have choices though. I really wasn't SUPER close with her, but she was a really sweet person and I've known her for years. Her ex boyfriend is a good friend of mine and he got the call about all this, sitting next to me. We were playing Halo and he answered his phone and just had this like...ghastly look on his face.

Really woke alot of us up to what we've been doing and such.

Sad news, hope you're alright butters. These things shake you up a lot because you tend to dwell on what you last said to them and your mind keeps saying ' what if '....
I've seen many people risk their lives doing the stupidest things that you start to wonder when their luck is going to run out. I guess your friend knew the risk she was taking and it unfortunately ended in tragedy.....one thing you mustn't do is blame yourself for anything. Keep your chin up mate

Horrible news man. It really brings a weird sense of mortality to the table when somebody you just saw is now gone. I couldn't believe how much the kid from my class made me think, and I barely talked to him.

Drink driving is the most irresponsible & stupid act ever! This is what taxis are for, police over here treat drink drivers as murderers because that's pretty much what they are. Anyone who does that instantly loses a lot of respect in my mind... It isn't hard to consider that when drunk, one shouldn't drive, simple as. Only a few weeks back almost an entire family were killed by a drink driver, only the son survived & it happened on his birthday. Now he will never know his family. Is it really worth it when one could just pay a few quid for a taxi?

Fortunately I've never had any young people close to me die, I can't imagine what it must be like to have a close friend lost at a young age. -My condolences.

Yeah this whole event has just been a real eye opener to alot of people. It's really shitty because it was something that could have totally been avoided. On top of all that, one of the kids in the car had previously had a DUI. I guess he didn't get the hint before this. I had another friend who got a DUI and a week after he got off his probation, he turned 21. The piece of shit still drinks and drives and it's one of the reasons I don't talk to him anymore.

This is weird, one of my mates just text me to say that his girlfriends brother & girlfriend were killed in a car crash. I'd only met the guy once but damn...
