I was just showing some of the styles of present day compared to WWII because the original statement was:

our helmets are alot lighter than the old german ones, plus there is some diffrences i dont know of, but i know are there biggrin:

Look at millers Sig. There is a standard issue Army "k-pot". From what i can tell it looks just like the german helmet. Ears are well covered front is cut up for better view. It has the same basic form. The flare at the bottom is less pronounced on the Current US version but is still there. YOu cant see it because of the kevlar cover though.

Despite what you might think those k-pots are freaking heavy. They wear your neck out the first few road marches you do with em. Just pray you never get put in the front lean and rest with it on, that will tire your neck out really fast.

Germany had the best designed helmets for many years after WWII. Their helmets covered the ears and the neck, protecting the warer from shrapnel.

actually I see a difference, the K-pot goes lower in the back, to meet the neck guard of your body armor. It also seems to sit better (proper fitting maybe) while the German one in the pic just sticks out on top of the head.

I hear you man, I got put in the front leaning rest once in the field for almost an hour. Kevlar, LBE, all the goodies. I lost my big mouth for a bit after that. biggrin:
