Default Linksys Routers: Server Configuration - 10-21-2003, 03:38 PM

Heres a pretty decent walk through for @home admins who want to throw up a server.
  • First you will need to know what that "name" of your computer is. If you are not sure, you will need to right click on "my computer" then select the properties option. From the properties screen you should then select the "computer name" tab. Take note of what the "full computer name" is.

  • Next, oen up your web browser and enter in the following address for the url. "http://192.168.1.1" You will then be prompted for a user name and password. If your router is still in the default factory settings you will just leave the username blank, and enter in "admin" for the password.

  • If you have done this correctly, you will now see the linksys router configuration page. From here you will need to select the "status" tab. Once the status tab loads, scroll down and click on "DHCP Clients Table." Under the "client host" column, you will need to locate the "name" of your computer. Once you have found your computer you will then need to write down the last three numbers of your ip address (ie. 192.168.1.104)

  • Next click the "Advanced Settings" tab on the far right of the menu bar. Once the advanced settings page has loaded, click on the "forwarding" tab. Here you will need to enter in the information that will allow the rest of the internet to connect to your computer specifically for medal of honor.

  • You will be setting up two port ranges. Therefore, under customized applications, enter "MOHAA" Twice. The range for port one will be 12203 - 12210. The range for port two will be 12300 - 12310. Foir each port range, both UDP protocol and TPC protocol should be enabled. Under "IP address" you will need to use the last three numbers from the IP that you retrieved from the "status" tab. Make sure "enable" is selected. Finally, click apply. Below is a screenshot of the forwarding configuration.

  • Now tell people to connect to your IP address (it is not 192.168.1.1) If you do not know what your IP address is, return to the status tab. And look next to the catagory "IP Address"[/*:m:4cdae]
