Johnj, thanks for the lengthy instructions, but that's not the problem. Yes, I did have the game installed previously, but I have since switched to a new computer. The point I was making is that on my previous installation, I hadn't encountered this problem, the same setup file had worked correctly.
My problem is that the file setup.exe won't start running. When I try to start it, the regular setup wizard does not appear. Instead, the DOS command prompt window opens (as if I have executed a DOS program) and immediately closes again. It stays open for half a second, then it's gone, and nothing else happens.
m1ck97, my file isn't a downloaded one, it's *on* the CD. But you mentioned re-downloading, and essentially, that is what another friend of mine suggested: that I try to get the lone setup.exe file from somewhere else, and replace mine with it. I'm not sure exactly how I can replace it on the CD-ROM. But perhaps I can copy everything to my hard drive and replace setup.exe and install from the hard drive? Is that possible? If yes, where can I get setup.exe?
