Default WMD's found at Plymouth State!! - 04-04-2007, 11:24 AM

[quote:0670e]Plymouth State University will be the site of a Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) drill Wednesday, April 11 at the P-E Center off Route 175-A in Holderness.

Sponsored by the Town of Plymouth, the drill will also include the N.H. Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. Plymouth’s fire and police departments will be on scene, as well as the town of Holderness fire and police departments, the PSU police department, Central New Hampshire Hazardous Material Response Team and the New Hampshire National Guard 12th Civil Support Team.

The exercise begins after the discovery of a WMD laboratory near the P-E Center, along with a threat to disperse the WMD material in University buildings. The purpose of the drill is to allow local, state and military responders to identify the threat, assess the possible consequences, advise on response and assist with requesting additional support, if needed.

The drill will commence at approximately 6 a.m., April 11, and conclude by late afternoon. Some traffic delays can be expected along River Street in Holderness as emergency response vehicles will be using that road. PSU parking lot 503, which is located on the P-E Center’s south side, will be closed all day for the exercise as well.

The event features a photo opportunity and media availability with responders. For more information, contact Bruce Lyndes, PSU Media Relations Mgr., (603) 535-2775 or blyndes@plymouth.edu
