Agreed.
Also, Metallica is not a pioneer for every kind of music today. I'm sure you don't like them, but DMB for example would not really be considered influenced by Metallica. Neither would some other unusual bands like Soulive and Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. For the record, I'm not a huge Metallica fan, but I have no problem with their stuff.
