Its there so people cant pirate the CDs and sell them. I think the CD key goes into the registry, thats why it looks like registry keys in regedit. How to get to the registry: 1. To to Start > Run. 2. Type in 'regedit' 3. Look around for the game. 4. Um... Maybe check if you can find the numbers/letters you typed in for the CD key verification.
