Default Forum Chinese Whispers - 03-24-2003, 10:34 AM

Yes, I'm bored.

This is a simple game that I thought would be a bit of a laugh (although not that much of a laugh, really, but there you go - I'm at work).

Everyone is familiar with the game Chinese Whispers? If you aren't it involves a group of people that each whisper a single phrase to the person next to them in order, starting with one person who makes up a sentance.

You can only say it once so eventually it will get distorted and supposedly the final sentance will be wildly different and everyone can fall about laughing at the fun of it all... I suppose.

Anyway, forum chinese whispers would have me make up a sentance and I'll PM it a random member who actively posts. So, someone who has posted more than 5 times at least in the last 2 days on this forum (Off-Topic).

He/she then changes one or two words, no more and then passes it on to another random person.

The format would be (using a theoretical 4th message):

Title: Chinese Whisper

Message 4: This is the message I have received
Ydiss
Zoner
Bazooka Joe
Slinky
Innoxx

All you have to do when you get a message in your inbox is change one or two words (no more than 2), add 1 to the message number and then add your name to the bottom of the list. Then send the message onto another random person who actively posts (and who isn't already on the list, of course).

So the next message could look like this:

Title: Chinese Whisper

Message 5: This is the car I have stolen
Ydiss
Zoner
Bazooka Joe
Slinky
Innoxx
YOUR NAME

Remember to keep the sentance reasonably sensible (grammar doesn't matter, you can ignore or change that however you like, and that means removing or adding commas and periods/full stops etc - Just make sure it makes reasonable sense). Don't indicate what word(s) you have changed to the person you send it to, keep to the above format.

If you absolutely have to you can remove a word instead of replacing it, but it'd be best if you don't remove too many words otherwise we'd end up with a very short sentance. Use your discretion.

Whoever gets the 19th message will alter their word(s) and then come here and post it for all to see (including the full list of who actually took part in the game as well). I will then post the original message.

Then we can see what a wonderful and amazing experiment this was and laugh and all that.

Or maybe not. You can humour me if you like biggrin:

I'll start this so long as I don't get too many people telling me I'm an arse and it's a dumb and worthless game.

If enough people post here in support then I don't see the problem with including everyone who does post in the game (but the game should end at 20 messages, otherwise it'll go on forever and be a little too removed from the original message). So, if you'd actually like to play then say so and I'm sure we can all keep that in mind when choosing who next to PM.

Here's an example of something I might (but won't) start with, btw:

Message 1: "Humans were originally apes, or so it is said. Now I know bananas taste nice but I'm glad we don't live on them. No wonder they lived in trees, the kind of diarrhoea they must have suffered would mean for lots of hanging about!"
