but what he could've done was go into the future and get the stock reports for the 2256 and play in that time, unless the government set up rule against doing such things in which case why wouldn't they have a rule against going back in time and doing that to gain the money he wants in 2256.

or he could have invented the time machine himself and the government doesn't know about it and decided to go back in time to play the stocks so the future government won't get suspicious and take away his time machine.

or he could have come back in time as part of an experiment to test the time machine, and he needed money to build a new time machine to get back to the future, but that raises the question why don't his scientist buddies(assuming he didn't build it himself) go back to pick him up with a different time machine, since they know hes alive now that hes in the news

or he could be lieing

or it could be fake
