Why, because I like freedom and I don't appreciate the Feds being able to see what books I read or listen in on a phone conversation without a warrant.

I also think he (or people working for him, who's ideas he just approved) has a lot of silly ideas, an already overly discussed "No Child Left Behind Act" which sounds like a good idea IN THEORY, but in reality it's a prime example of Federal inefficiency. No child left behind i dont know but if that was that School thing they had it aint workin i got to a highschool that hasnt had anything been rebuilt for 51 years, we use books from 1992, and the school is under supplied we have like hardly anything teachers last year ran out of paper in 2 months. this act does nothing to save bad schools, if anything it takes funding AWAY from schools that "fail" for a few years in a row. This means that schools that were already fucked up will only get worse, not better.[/quote:8f505]

the other thing it does is force schools to always raise standards for students on tests. this is fine in texas where nothing is expected of students but here in new york the standards are already too high and this resulted in the infamous math A Final that more than half of the state failed.That test fortunately was removed from the books, but it raises standards without giving more funding.

the other provision in the act was that schools must give a list of students with their info like address and phone no. to the local army recruiter or the school gets no funding. looks like bush may have been trying to keep recruit numbers up for his planned wars.
