Some of you may have heard about a former Republican senator calling for Bush to pick up a new Vice President for the coming election.
This caused me to stop and really look into Cheney's history and make an educated decision based on my own ideals on what I thought.
After taking a couple of days, I found that not only do I not care much for Cheney's views or personality, I don't really trust him either. When you look at the Bush administration, Bush has never acted very shady or secretive. But Cheney seems like he has a very hidden agenda.
So the speculation circulating is that - were Bush to choose a new VP - it would be John McCain or Colin Powell. More likely McCain than Powell.
Now, I think Powell and McCain would both be great choices. I feel that both of them are very intelligent men who gained their positions in life through honest, hard work and perserverance.
In the end, though, I think I would like to see Powell in office. I mean, he has shattered the glass ceiling for minorities in government. As the Secretary of State, I feel like he has lended a real sense of credibility to the Bush Administration in his voiced disagreement with some policy decisions, etc. I also think that Bush trusts Colin Powell and will listen to him.
So, I'm pulling for a Bush/Powell ticket in '04, and I think with this combination they would landslide the election.
I'd like to hear other opinions on this, but I don't want to hear flaming. Keep that shit out of this thread. If you feel like you need to bash Bush or whatever, make your own thread.
