I tend to agree with the idea that the media is instilling a culture of fear these days. I don't think kids now are any more violent than when I was growing up. I knew who the "bad" kids were in my school. There was always that bully element present. It's nothing new.

The difference as I see it is if a kid got beaten up in my school in 1985, the parents, the teachers and possibly the police were involved. It seems that nowadays, you can add CNN to the friggin' mix.
