Let him get his shit together and move on. Once he has a new chick or has moved on to a point he wont really care, go ahead. Stay friends with her and try to keep her in a small circle of friends. That way shes still around, and it makes it easier to make your move. If she doesnt make it first, seeing how she maybe interested.

In other words, let things cool down for a while. You can still be her friend, but hold off on making a hard move. If she wants to flirt and play grab ass, go for it. But for atleast a month unless she flat out makes a move, leave it at flirting and playing. See where your buddy and her stand after that and plan accordingly from there.
