Aren't the firing pin and gunpowder only used in actually launching the shell, while any explosives that detonate once it hits the ground are inside the actual shell?
It would make sense that way. Mabye they slammed it agaisnt the ground, simulating it hitting the ground after being launched, triggering it to explode? |
