N64 had problems with a small texture buffer so textures had to be pretty small in size. Obviously for larger objects this caused problems with the textures being blurred with them being stretched.

Crysis should be interesting, though i know id are at work on their new game (and engine) and theres a third party at work on castle wolfenstein 2. Its funny but because of farcry doom 3 never really got as much attention as you woulda thought, the cryengine just came out of nowhere and the media shit themselves over it.
