Yes, they were communist theorists (living fat in france), but the Soviet SOCIALIST republic was much closer in practice to socialism than communism. Marx' Communist manifesto is one of the most painfully boring pieces of literature I have ever had to read. It seemed to be more about revenge against the bourgeois than equality.

Communist theorists... so there's no democrats, but democrat theorists, or no nazis but nazi theorists? The Soviet SOCIALIST Republic, as you put it, was was never a communist nation nor a socialist nation. It was a totalitarian nation, and the workers did not own anything. Instead, the country was run by a bunch of thugs and former criminals; it was controlled by the few. Also, according to Marx, the revolution was supposed to take place in a industrialy developed nation, and obviously 1917 Russia was not something one would describe as an industrially developed nation.

Ok, and regarding the topic, I believe that a public school should not be bias toward any type of political, racial, religious, or economical ideals. If there are ideals taught or represented in a school, all the ideals should be taught and represented equally. School should be a perfectly neutral place, which should have the American flag just to show that the school is located in the United States. The Confederate Flag represents a set of ideals, just like having the Ten Commandments up on the wall of a classroom; thus, making the school bias toward some set of ideals. In terms of what people wear in the school, they should be able to wear whatever they want. Last of all, in my opinion, the Confederate Flag is a symbol of an alien nation that was never part of the United States; it's like hanging up the Italian flag in front of a public American school. It makes no sense to me. :P
