Well there wasnt tv or anything in those days, and there was usually public speakers in market places who said things that people could learn from. Like for instance, one of those speakers could of said "love thy neighbour" and the people listening to him would have thougght "ooh, thats good advice, i'll have to listen to him more often" and they would tell their friends about him, and soon loads of people would come to listen to this guy. And if this guy happened to be called Jesus that everyone started following because he gave good advice....well im sure you can see my point now.

i dont believe in god because i find no evidence to support it..... unlike evolution. i find the religions that uphold the idea of jesus/creationism as very poorly disguised lies and marketing.
religion that focuses on spiritualism and enlightenment i could embrace but not one that revolves around a lie such as when you die you go to some magical happy camp. humans fear death... much is done to sell people on the idea that depending on what religion you follow you will be somehow benfitted over me. i think i dont need this type of belief in god as i dont fear death..... just as i didnt fear going to sleep last night. i have no memory of those 6 hours and was not a conscious being at the time yet it was not a scary experience.

well there have been over 20,000 memoirs and manuscripts uncovered from all over the Middle East about Jesus and his life, including his miracles, healings, crucifiction, and his rising from the dead. That is more than any other religion to date.

To answer your question, on why I don't believe in the CHRISTIAN religion, is because the Bible has been rewritten and redone over the past thousands of years. A lot of priests take advantage of their faithful for money or political gain. I consider religion as a limit to someone's thinking process. The Bible tells you how to think, and what to believe. You're not left with doing that on your own. Another reason on why I don't believe in the Christian religion is because of the Christians going into different lands and cultures, and destroying those cultures by replacing them with puritain or catholic culture; a culture of fear from the all powerful God. According to one Catholic book that I own, it is considered egotistical to have sex before marriage........?!?! Asking me to believe in the Christian religion is like asking me to become a person living in the life of fear because it is a sin to masturbate, or have dirty thoughts about other people; this was also taken out of my catholic book. If you want to see my number one reason on why I don't believe or accept the christian faith is this website... http://www.zboard.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi

Oh, and Jesus did exist, but he had short curly hair and a curly beard; he didn't look like they way he was idolized in various European, and then finally colonial, churches. Jesus existed, but that doesn't mean that he performed all these miracles. Muhammed also existed, and so did Buddha, so what does that tell you? Indeed, exactly nothing.

Maybe thats because its the oldest religion?
Let me ask you though, if you went to see david blaine, would you sit there and think "wow! amazing! he must be a messiah!"
or would you think "pfft, his tricks are all just an illusion"
some of the things david blaine does are hard to figure out - so if one guy can do magic tricks all those years ago, is it any wonder they would have been amazed at him.
So what if he was cruicified - i bleive he was crucified by the romans who saw him becoming a political threat, as his followers were starting to show their resent for the romans even more.
Resurection? isnt there just the slighest possible chance than some of his trusty friends rescued him, took him to a cave where he recovered.........or is that just not feesable for even just an instant. you said so yourself youre starting to beleive about brainwashing - so can you not also beleive that the whole concept of god might not be true?

Ok, so how did Jesus feed 5,000 people with 5 loafs of bread and 2 fish (i think thats right) ?? How did he walk on water?? And after he has finished all of God's tasks, how does he ascend up to Heaven? Surely his freinds couldnt help him do that........

And if I SHOULD not do what the Bible tells me and not believe what the Bible tells me I SHOULD believe, I'm guessing that I SHOULD go to hell. Yes, I thought so. I dont agree with Christianity or catholicism on abortion, anticonception, homosexuality, euthanasia, the death penalty...it never ends!! Now do you understand why I don't believe in the christian faith? What I get the biggest kick out of on the JZAM board is that some of them actually think that a catholic is not a christian. ROFL!
