I think the next big step in games next to AI is realistic physics. I would love to see things have weight and react to thier surroundings. From what I've read Doom 3 is taking that kind of thing into consideration.

we are still ways off from perfect Ai because if u want realistic battle strategy and emotiones from Ai your gonna need some kind of super processor. Maybe in 5 years we'll see some good stuff from Ai. Right now they are working on lighting. Looks like clipping issues and lighting should be mastered soon. Cant wait to see the next best thing after Doom 3.

exactly what i was thinking, if the ai was too realistic it would take alot of power to run them, it's like creating an entire race.

probbaly be violent as hell. people exploding realistically, body parts sticking to walls, hookers smashed agaisnt brick wall with realistically lighted , textured, and modeled 3d blood with weight and sound dripping off broken glass, with visible pieces of bone lgihted perfectly and modled with extreme attention to detail.

it'll be just like movies. they becoem more and more realitic and violent

also the brain would turn into juise and slide down the sides of the computer generated character's head. the friends and family of the ai character would then kneel down to cray , later the character's sun coems back into the house with a ahsotgun lookign for soem revenge. he then blows the player's head open and the game's over.

several random spawns/patrol patterns for the enemy would help.

the naval strategy game Fleet Command uses this and just about every time you play a level it seems teh ships and their locations are different.
