I believe there is going to be an X-box version, the only thing I can say for it's release is - After the PC version. Please read the Q&A ( http://www.alliedassault.com/gameinfo/qna/ ) before asking any questions, it will answer most of them.

If I was you I'd spend my $398 on upgrading my computer, or put it toward buying a new one. After a short period of time, computers always surpass their console cousins, due to ungradable nature of computers. This also makes keeping up with the newest hardware much easier, and (after a month or 2) much cheaper then consoles.

You can either support Microsoft’s monopoly, or get the (arguably) lower quality PS2. I suppose it all depends on your taste of games. If you play games such as "Metal Gear", and "Final Fantasy" then go with PS2. If you enjoy games like "Halo" (Which will be returning to the PC anyway, after it's XBOX launch) and, well, errrr... I really can't think of any more XBOX games that caught my attention. Anyway, the XBOX will be more powerful then PS2, but it all depends on the games you like, so go look it up and find out what games are on them.

Gamecube, after they get better games, will be the best out of all of them. Not graphics wise, but quality of games and a lot of game franchises, mario, zelda, bond, etc.

I posted up a comparison between both the Xbox and the PS2, and it clearly shows that the Xbox is a much better system, it will have better graphics, larger HDD capacity, more RAM.....you get the picture, if your willing to pay for it I'm sure you will be happy with the Xbox, and by the way Metal Gear Solid (which one I dont know) will be making it's way to the Xbox. The choice is yours and yours alone. Also dug this up.....
Xbox Preorder rip-off 11:16 AM (your time) - Robert "Apache" Howarth - Consoles: Microsoft X-Box - (228)
Well, 'rip-off' might be a little harsh, but its not too far from the truth. According to the LA Times, Microsoft is trying to encourage retailers to price-gouge consumers into pre-ordering the $299 system for upwards of $500 to $1200 for system + game bundles. Thanks EA. Here's how they kick it off:
Consumers expecting to pay the $299 suggested retail price for Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox video game console may be in for some sticker shock.
Beginning next month, many retailers will be requiring customers to pay from $499 to as much as $1,200 to reserve an Xbox console that, like it or not, will come bundled with games, peripherals and warranties.
The reason: Microsoft will provide additional marketing money to merchants that agree to include the software giant's games in their bundles. That's because Microsoft's games carry higher profit margins for the Redmond, Wash., company than those published by third-party companies such as Activision Inc. and Electronic Arts Inc. The plan is angering consumers.

Yeah but xbox has quite a few bottlenecks to overcome not to mention its running off a windows kernel and can have Blue screens of death.
I say xbox is gonna suk the big one. E3 was a perfect example microshaft had xbox running halo and it was stuttering and crashing most gave the xbox only a passing glance, whereas the gamecube stole the show.
Nintendo is onto a winner with the gamecube some of the screnshots ive seen of the new star wars game blow anything ive seen of xbox out of the water.

Nintendo is old, i started off as a nintendo person myself when i was about 6 with NES, then to SNES, then N64 and all that stuff, but the thing with nintendo is that it gets old, all they can do is keep remaking the same game over and over again e.g mario, zelda, start fox etc. PS2 will have by far better games, they can come up with new fressh ideas for games and still have them turn out good, ps2 also has DvD, CD player and that whole bit, and it will be online soon, and so will all of it's games (tony hawk 3, phantasy star online, red faction etc.) XBox will just remake games, use games that PS2 has or re-make PC games, thats it, its only more powerful because its made by microsoft. if you're looking for a quality entertainment system with online gaming: go with Ps2. if you're looking for fun games and fun multiplayer (smash bros. melee etc.) go with gamecube. and if you want a powerful system: go with Xbox
there, i've vented.
