x-box is a very worthy purchase. The dvd player is excellent and easy to use, there are limited games out justnow but some huge titles comming up in 2003. im personally looking forward to project ego.
When x-box live is running well, you will be able to download new levels and mods for games.
dont let the "poor sales" chanters put you off, as its pretty obvious poor sales wont bankrupt microsoft and make them abandon the x-box. and remember that x-box was pricey on its release but has come down in price drasticly, and also that PS2 already had a huge fan base of ps1 gamers eager for the realse of the ps2. x-box will get there in the end.
the games are a bit pricey justnow though.

however if its for kids, your best bet is a gamecube, loads of great fun colourful titles, as well as things such as resident evil for the grownups.
plus if you have a game boy advance, on some games you can connect it to your gamecube and play sub-games on the gameboy advance.

ps2 is a ps1 with better graphics in the games, thats all there is to it. the dvd player is not bad but it isnt exactly a professional job worthy of sony.
